Mauritius

Our home market: nine districts, five municipal towns, 130 villages and the island of Rodrigues. One country, several languages and a few hundred kilometres of coastline where every brand competes for attention.

What it means

Search in English and French, talk in Kreol

People in Mauritius search mostly in English and French and spend their social time on Facebook, while at home almost everyone speaks Kreol. That is why our websites for the local market are built in English and French, while social media and video often switch to Kreol to sound like the people they speak to.

Tourism, real estate open to foreign buyers, financial services and ICT are among the sectors that invest most in communication. Each of them has a geography: hotels on the coasts, smart cities on former sugar estates, finance in Port Louis and Ebène. Our district pages follow that map.

Beyond the main island

Rodrigues and the outer islands

Rodrigues

The autonomous island of Rodrigues, with its capital Port Mathurin: tourism, crafts, fishing and agriculture.

Agaléga

Two islands about 1,000 km north of Mauritius, with around 330 residents at the 2022 census.

St Brandon

The Cargados Carajos shoals, a fishing ground with a small population of fishermen, mostly temporary.
